Melissa, Jamaica and Hurricane

Melissa is expected to remain a powerful hurricane when it moves across Cuba and the Bahamas and passes near Bermuda, it says. The National Hurricane Center has just confirmed on X that Melissa will make landfall in Cuba soon "as an Extremely Dangerous Major Hurricane".
Hours from landfall, Hurricane Melissa is also slow moving like Hurricane Harvey in 2017, which could mean catastrophic flooding.
This late-season surprise behemoth went beyond 'extreme' rapid intensification and now ties Katrina and Andrew as the 10th strongest hurricane ever recorded.
Jamaica is bracing for what is feared could become the worst storm to hit the Caribbean nation in history. Hurricane Melissa was upgraded to a category five hurricane early on Monday, and could bring devastation to much of the country wth 165 mph winds and “catastrophic” flooding.
While the heaviest rain should be over by Halloween evening, gusty winds are expected to linger into the weekend for New Jersey Track Melissa as it's forecast to become a major hurricane over the weekend.
Melissa’s 185 mph winds rival the most intense Atlantic storms on record. The Category 5 hurricane is threatening Jamaica with a storm surge of up to 13 feet.
